£1,000 from Tesco
Valley Invicta Primary School at Holborough Lakes is celebrating a £1,000 grant from Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme, which will fund an exciting environmental and wellbeing project for pupils and the wider community.
The initiative will help pupils learn about sustainability, develop gardening skills, and understand the importance of protecting the environment. Children with autism will also benefit through activities designed to build life skills, improve social interaction, and support wellbeing.
Working alongside local businesses and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the school plans to launch a rewilding project, create new planting areas, and install wildlife homes and feeders. These changes will attract more birds and pollinators, helping pupils recognise the impact of small actions on the natural world.
The project also includes building a sensory garden filled with fragrant plants, offering a calming, nature-rich space to support mental health and wellbeing.
Involving the community is a key part of the project. Pupils will take part in local litter picks and form an “environmental warrior” team to raise awareness of environmental issues and inspire positive change.
